Wow, the first and second picture completely blew me away. I said I didn't like her blonde hair that much but I completely changed my mind now. ♥-Axelle
There's no doubt that this is a gorgeous shoot within fashion & art perspectives (which (may) uphold aesthetic value above all else). However, I'm curious to know if Vogue will face criticism for reproducing a clear colonial narrative in its photos, and also in it captions such as, "She may have the world at her feet". Isabel Lucas is stunning, but you can't separate art from contentious political issues; the apparent naivety which veils this shoot is definitely something that bothered me about it.
[Please note that I love your blog, and am by no means criticizing you!]
I agree with above anonymous comment - art and contentious political issues often work together but I'm not sure this editorial (as beautiful as it is) is adding much to the conversation. I'm surprised she agreed to the shoot, she seems so politically aware. It seems very 'colonial master' to me. I was pretty shocked to be honest. All the same, some of the shots are beautiful, as is Isabel and love your blog.
